Just because the weather isn’t great now, it doesn’t mean that it won’t get much better as spring rolls in – we hope! So let’s plan ahead and give you a list of our favourite places to eat outside in Leeds, in and around the city centre. We’re optimistic we’ll get a day of sunshine… eventually.
The Lamb and Flag is the classic Leeds spirit at its finest and a great place to eat outside. With a gorgeous garden and picnic benches, the Lamb and Flag offers you an almost quaint view of the world around you, while the kitchen serves some amazing dishes. The main menu is proudly Yorkshire, features wonderful pies, and has some amazing links to Leeds Brewery. While not everyone will be a fan of the beer in the ingredients list, it’s a favourite addition to ice cream for us.
Boasting possibly the most iconic fairy-lights in the city, Blackhouse is set in the heart of Leeds, and there you can watch people passing by while you relax with a steak. There are many other fantastic options on the menu, but you can’t beat a steak at Blackhouse. The presentation of everything is elegant and timeless, the food is cooked to a high standard but the first treat you receive is just looking at it. But don’t wait too long before digging in, you’ll be the envy of every person rushing by.
In Leeds City Square you’re spoilt for choice with places to eat, but it’s hard to go wrong with Restaurant Bar and Grill. If the weather is good, then the tables outside will be filled with every group imaginable – whether you’re having a rushed lunch before catching a train or enjoying a lazy afternoon, you’ll be happy here. The menu has plenty of options to share across the table if everyone wants the same thing, but there is more than enough choice to keep even fussy eaters happy. Restaurant Bar and Grill is a great option when choosing a place to eat outside in Leeds.
In the summer months, the seating area of the Revolution Electric Press becomes one of the best places to eat outside and grab a cocktail with friends. The atmosphere of the whole place seeps into the air, and it’s hard not to end up smiling and laughing. Although some only visit the Electric Press for a drink, it actually offers a substantial menu, as well as some lighter bites for those hot days where you just want something small. No matter whether you’re craving something wonderfully healthy or something fantastically indulgent, you’re certain to find something you’ll love.
As Leeds keeps growing, so do the options of places to eat, and these days Granary Wharf has some brilliant options for outside dining. Fazenda is of course a paradise for meat lovers, or there’s Brasserie Blanc for the French food aficionado, and the Pourhouse if your first concern is a great selection of beers and gins. Fazenda and Brasserie Blanc offer classic table seating outside, whereas Pourhouse have opted for more relaxed bench seating. The best thing is that every venue offers you a slice of the city, along with great views of the world around you.
