The Wardrobe is a contemporary, yet smart, restaurant and bar, that acts as both an indie gig venue, and a more flashy and up market place to eat and drink. Located at the bottom of the city centre, just across from the market and adjacent the the BBC building, The Wardrobe is in the perfect location for an easy walk to the West Yorkshire Playhouse. It isn’t too far from the Grand Theatre either.

The menu for the pre-theatre deals is very impressive too. It focuses very much on Deep South, Caribbean and Creole cuisine, all given a soul kitchen twist. Choose from a selection of dishes, including small or big plates, a range of salads, amazing grill selections and of course, some yummy yank desserts!

Reliance

For those who enjoy a good British meal, Reliance is definitely the place to be. Situated on North Street, just out of the city centre, Reliance is in a great location for those who want to enjoy a tasty pre-theatre meal, without the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Reliance offers two main pre-theatre menus. Their first is the 2 course offer for £14.95. Choose from a range of starters, including the Soup of the Day, Moules Mariniere and the Reliance Charcuterie Board. You can then move on to mains which consist of Erdinger battered haddock with twice cooked chips, cauliflower with chickpeas, bhaji and spinach, and more. If you opt for the dessert instead of the starter, you can choose from a range of desserts written on their blackboard, or for an extra £2, receive a full cheeseboard.

Don’t worry if you can’t resist eating all three course, their second pre-theatre option is all 3 courses for just £18.90!

Sandinista

If you are looking for a more fun and lively sit down meal before your show, Sandinista may be the place for you, after all, Sandinista say it themselves; “it’s more fun to eat in a bar than drink in a restaurant”.

Sandinista is situated just on the outer part of the city centre, adjacent to Belgrave Music Hall. Sandinista offers a taste of Latin America, using only the most organic and fairtrade ingredients available. Their menu is extremely cultured, including some of the best tapas around. Their drinks menu is also extremely varied, offering some delicious lagers, cask ales, wines and fruity cocktails. What’s better is that they offer 20% off any of the food and drink, providing you can show an in-date gig or theatre ticket!

Chaophraya

For those who fancy a bit of Thai inspired cuisine before they sit down and enjoy the show, there is no better place in Leeds to go to than Chaophraya. The Asian restaurant is located right in the city centre, just minutes from the nearest train station and only a 5-10 minute walk from the nearest theatre.

Chaophraya has a range of delicious and varied menus, offering their speciality a la carte menu, including favourites such as Thai Green Chicken Curry and Spicy Beef Salad. Their set menu, as well as their dessert menus, are also not be overlooked, consisting of a huge range of Thai inspired specialities and sweet treats.
