‘Tis the season to be jolly: Blackhouse Grill on the Square launch their Christmas menu

Christmas always has been a time for families and friends to come together and unify by eating great food. Blackhouse’s new Christmas menu aims recreate the traditional family Christmas meal by taking their food back to basics.

Situated on East Parade, Grill on the Square is one of the four restaurants in the Blackhouse family. The brand is renowned for sizzling steaks and exotic cocktails but in a seasonal twist, the new Christmas menu deviates from the conformities of a conservative steakhouse. A range of simple, homely dishes aim to give customers access to nostalgic memories through the power of food.

At the restaurant’s Christmas menu launch night, guests were able to indulge in a selection of some of dishes and beverages that will available over the festive period.

At the start of the evening we were greeted at the door with a glass of sparkling prosecco and a cosy mug of home brewed mulled wine – a contrasting concoction that worked surprisingly well. We were then ushered in to the restaurant, autumnal décor make the restaurant fit for the cold nights.  A waterfall of Christmas lights stretching across a wall of glass really gave the restaurant a feel of intimacy.

The food on display was delicious, warm and comforting. Canopies of sausage and mash, meatballs in gravy and sumptuous  cauliflower and  sweet potato pies really emulated the simplicity of the new menu. There were no pretences and certainly no gimmicks. The recipes seemed to be stolen out  of grandma’s kitchen.
