Leeds is a vibrant city, filled with evening entertainment and a great night life, and it definitely has no shortage of restaurants. That doesn’t mean, however, that there isn’t always room for some more. As the city’s economy grows, so does the amount of shoppers, visitors and residents looking for a great place to eat.

To be ‘in’ within the foodie scene, it is important that you keep up to date with all the new and up and coming restaurants and bars. Not only does this increase your knowledge of the city, but it also opens up a selection of possible restaurants you can eat out at. Check out some of the newly opened bars and restaurants within the Leeds area below:

Manhatta

Situated in the ‘rise again’ Grand Arcade, Manhatta is a New York inspired bar and restaurant offering a true taste of Manhattan nightlife. The owners of this new establishment also own The Pit, which is situated on the same street, and and continues their expression of the American lifestyle.

The bar itself boasts a contemporary yet 80’s glam disco theme, including a medium sized dancefloor surrounded by a terrace of seating areas. The glamorous atmosphere of the real Upper Manhattan can really be seen on the bottom floor, which is adorned with golden lighting and extravagant centrepieces.

The menu is equally as fabulous. Manhattan offers a range of deluxe New Yorker style food, including juicy burgers, sandwiches and salads, all cooked up by speciality chef Antony Flinn. The drinks menu is equally impressive, and includes a wide range of delicious cocktails, ales, wines and even champagnes.

Cabbana

Bem Brasil has seen a lot of success over the past year, as it was one of the first to introduce Brazilian cuisine into the Leeds food scene. It comes as no surprise then, that Cabana has recently opened its doors offering a similar style cuisine. The new kid on the block is situated within the Trinity centre, and offers a range of tasty treats all within a very Brazilian style setting.

Much like its predecessors, Fazenda and Bem Brasil, Cabana offers a range of Brazilian favourites, especially the ones on skewers! You can expect to be faced with a vast range of different melt in the mouth meats, including beef, pork, chorizo and chicken! They also offer a great Brazilian style street food selection along with a good choice of ales, wines and cocktails.

Brotherhood Pursuit and Pastimes

Brotherhood Pursuit and PastimesAnother new entry to the increasingly popular Grand Arcade is Brotherhood Pursuit and Pastiness. The smaller establishment offers a drink with a true british feel to it. It takes on a very old English theme and digs deep to bring out the British in all its customers.

The drinks selection is vast, including a wide range of cask ales, lagers, ciders, spirits and fine wines, meaning there’s something for everyone. The location is also ideal for those who want to move from bar to bar, or even have a meal in the city centre and move onto Brotherhood after.

Bilbao Bar

Bilbao Bar is a relatively new restaurant situated in Granary Wharf, just outside of the main city centre areas. On visiting, you can expect to be faced with a very Spanish setting, along with delicious Spanish inspired cuisine. The setting is very upbeat and atmospheric, and offers a very colourful and vibrant interior.

The food menu really expresses the Spanish heritage of the restaurant, offering traditional tapas dishes, including both Basque and Andalucian style. They also offer a range of seafood dishes, such as garlic prawns, as well as some vegetarian options, along with the ever famous Spanish tortilla.

We would definitely recommend visiting one of these new restaurants in Leeds, as each one offers something slightly different. If you want to spice up your restaurant list, check them out and let us know what you think!
