Tattu is a contemporary Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Leeds city centre in the new Bond Court development on East Parade. The restaurant’s menu focuses on delivering modern Chinese cuisine using traditional Asian ingredients and locally-sourced produce to create innovative interpretations of classic Chinese dishes. For the summer 2017 menu, the restaurant has developed three dishes inspired by locally-sourced Yorkshire produce, comprising a spiced Yorkshire beef puff dim sum, Whitby crab cake with soy aioli and Yorkshire pork rib-eye with apple teriyaki, each dish is available on the à la carte menu. The restaurant brand, which launched its first venue in Manchester’s Spinningfields district in 2015, takes visual inspiration from body art and the development from its origins in the east to its prominence in today’s western culture. Tattu Leeds has built on this inspiration, focusing on the detail offered by contemporary body artists, replicated by using detailed natural materials imported specially from Hong Kong for the restaurant. The dining space is split over two floors with a private dining room for 16 people on the mezzanine level, overlooking the delicate Chinese cherry blossom tree which is adorned with white petals in tribute to Yorkshire’s white rose emblem. In Asia, the cherry blossom tree is a symbol of luck holding the belief that it showers people with love and happiness, something that Tattu’s owners wanted to share in each venue. As well as a seasonal à la carte menu, Tattu offers a dim sum lunch menu (2 dishes for £13, 3 dishes for £18 and four dishes for £22) and the Taste of Tattu menu (2 courses for £19.50 and three courses for £24.50).
